Do the following, please:
1.) Use AHT and send me again the debug lines out of console (the issue is not necessary for this).
2.) Install the following new debug version with some more debug console entries and with some lines changed in code. Use it again and send me the debug lines. Let me know, if the problem is still existing or seems to have gone finally.
Here are the logs ("-debug-" is the version you attached). I run it for a couple of minutes and so far haven't run into any issues. (though I haven't been using AHT recently as it was very unpredictable so I just settled for constant plain-text).
I'll test it some more and let you know.
For the debug console entries it is necessary to "use" AHT button "Show HTML", to get the needed console lines.

Sorry, got carried away with other things. Though, I've been using debug version of AHT since you published it and it seems to be better.
So I will release this version (without the debug lines) as 7.0.2 on ATN and we'll see, if there will be further reports about the problem.
Would be nice, if you could still be using the debug version (I will provide a new one here).

Ja, es sind lediglich die ganzen console.debug Zeilen nicht auskommentiert und erzeugen somit massenweise entsprechende Einträge/Zeilen in der Fehlerkonsole. Es handelt sich aber ansonsten erstmal identisch um Version 7.0.2, die auf ATN hoffentlich die Tage freigeschaltet wird.

I also observe that strange behaviour for quite some time. Every now and then, changing to HTML view is not temporarily, but persistent - while the status bar constantly claims that "plain text" view is active. Explicitly chosing "plain text" (although it's already checked) corrects the wrong display.
Today, the problem was 100% reproducible. With really every use of the "Show HTML" button, the view stayed at HTML when changing messages or folders.
So I downloaded the 7.0.2-debug version of AHT and manually installed it, without even uninstalling first. After restarting TB, the problem did not occur any more.
As soon as it fails again, I will provide the error console logs. Hopefully, I can help finding and fixing this strange issue.

Is it the statusbar text or the checked entry in the statusbar context menu? It may be a part of the main problem or separate problem (if in the context menu).

I think it were both - IIRC.
When the problem appears again, I will take special care of this detail.
Right now, it happened again.
In the failure situation, the text in the status bar shows "original HTML" with the HTML icon, while in the statusbar context menu "plain text" was checked.
After a restart of TB, the status bar still showed "HTML", but after changing to plain text view the AHT button changed the view only temporarily again (at least for the moment).
And sorry - at that very moment after restarting TB I forgot to look if the checked item in the status bar context menu still was "plain text", despite of the status bar itself showing "HTML"... Better luck next time...

For both of you Tilo265 and wojtek , the Listener for event "MsgMsgDisplayed" is correctly registered by my addon code, but this (Thunderbird own) event seems never to be "fired", when message were displayed. This event should be fired from Thunderbird itself after every(!) message, which is be displayed.

What happens if you set a breakpoint there? Is it ever reached? That seems to be the only place where this is fired.

It appears reproducible that after the fail (persistently) shows, simply closing and restarting TB cures the problem - at least for some time again...
The whole issue could be fixed, when the next version series 8.* will be released for the upcoming Thunderbird 102.* (and maybe 91.*)
